Conlin will likely challenge Grassley

Kiernan: Party will remain neutral in senate primary

Responding to criticism from a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan reiterated that the party will not endorse or support any candidate before the primary.


Hubbell will not challenge Grassley

Fred Hubbell, chair of the Iowa Power Fund Board and a former insurance executive, will not enter the race to unseat U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley in 2010.
In an e-mail to the Iowa Independent concerning rumors that he is considering a campaign for the Democratic Senate nomination, Hubbell simply said “No, I am not interested.”
