The four Iowans arrested while attempting to perform a citizen’s arrest of Karl Rove during a visit to Des Moines in July were found guilty of trespassing today in Iowa District Court in Polk County.

Four anti-war activists who attempted to arrest former White House adviser Karl Rove when he visited Des Moines in July will stand trial today in a Polk County court.

When it was announced that Karl Rove, former White House adviser and architect of President George W. Bush’s election campaigns, would headline the Republican Party of Iowa’s Victory 2008 fund-raiser this Friday, the Des Moines Catholic Workers started planning.

And so began the Eighty-Four Minute Hate at the University of Iowa, reminiscent of George Orwell’s Two-Minute Hate in “1984,” featuring Karl Rove, former member of President Bush’s Inner Party, and those who have come to despise him. (see video belwo the fold)

The last three weeks of frigid Iowa weather had no affect on Iowa City’s anti-war community, which had been eagerly anticipating the postponed Karl Rove lecture at the University of Iowa.

Karl Rove: Take Two. The former deputy chief of staff and senior advisor to President George W. Bush, will speak at 7:30 p.m. tonight, in the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus.
