Register circulation down 13%

The Des Moines Register lost nearly 18,000 daily subscribers and nearly 15,000 Sunday subscribers during the six-month period ending in September, according to preliminary figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

In a memo to staff today, Laura Hollingsworth, president and publisher of The Des Moines Register, announced that the paper will eliminate 12 full-time positions and three part-time positions, as well as leave 11 vacant jobs unfilled.
