46,000 Iowans registered to vote on Election Day
Roughly 3 percent of Iowans who voted in the 2008 general election took advantage of a new law allowing Election Day registration, AP’s Mike Glover reports.
And, according to Iowa Secretary of State Mike Mauro, there were few problems associated with the new way of registering.
Harkin Backs Federal Election Day Registration
Sen. Tom Harkin has joined other senators from states with election-day voter registration in backing a bill that would extend same-day registration to all states.
But the delegation from Iowa, the newest same-day registration state, is not united, with Rep. Steve King voicing his opposition.
