State revenue higher than predicted for July

State revenue in July was up 1.2 percent compared with the same period last year and is ahead of projections made by the Revenue Estimating Conference (REC).

Gross general fund revenue receipts for July totaled $412.1 million — $4.7 million more than in July of last year.


Revenue estimates spark debate over depth of shortfall

Iowa could end the 2009 fiscal year with $161 million less in net revenues than expected, according to estimates by the Legislative Services Agency. That could force Gov. Chet Culver to call a special session to balance the budget.
