GOP’s Reed says Harkin backs marriage of man and horse
Little-known GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, Christopher Reed of Marion — who has such a paucity of funding and proifle that he actually uses Google’s free blogspot service to post items — claims U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, (who has been married to one woman for around as long as Reed has been alive) [...]
Columnist to Reed: Lookin’ good?
They say you haven’t made it in Iowa politics until you’ve been sliced and diced by Civic Skinny, the gossip column that appears in Des Moines’ alternative weekly, Cityview. Well, going on that definition, congratulations is in order to Republican senatorial candidate Christopher Reed.
Christopher Reed takes a stand in immigration debate
The weekend rally in Postville was an event from which most political candidates and elected officials chose to distance themselves. But, Christopher Reed, a Republican who will face U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin on the November ballot, not only made a point of coming to the isolated small town, but standing with those who supported the unprecedented May 12 federal immigration action that resulted in the detention of 389 workers.
Flood Waters Ripple Though Iowa Politics
Displaced voters from Hurricane Katrina have had a dramatic impact on Louisiana state politics, as the areas most heavily hit were disproportionately African American and Democratic.

Eichhorn: No Senate Recount
U.S. Senate candidate George Eichhorn conceded today, in an email to supporters.
“What is important now is for our party to come together behind our Presidential nominee, Senate nominee, our Congressional nominees and our local candidates,” said the message, without naming Christopher Reed, who narrowly defeated Eichhorn.
Canvasses Change Few Votes In Close Primary
County canvasses on Monday and Tuesday changed few votes in two close Republican contests from last week’s primary.
Christopher Reed held both his lead in the U.S. Senate race over George Eichhhorn and, more importantly, his percentage above the required 35 percent.
Recounts and the Finality of Numbers
With the potential of recounts looming in the Republican U.S. Senate and 2nd Congressional District races, it’s worth looking at why the numbers you see on election night change later and why the results are “unofficial.”
The results aren’t final on election night. That’s both a formality and a reality.
Neophytye Reed Appears To Take GOP Senate Primary
A young newcomer appears to have won the U.S. Senate Republican primary in Iowa, the political undercard of the night, and now has a chance to face heavyweight Tom Harkin in November.
The Associated Press is reporting that with all but one of the state’s precincts in, Christopher Reed, a 36-year-old businessman from Marion, had about [...]
Republicans Barely Avoid US Senate Convention
The little-known 35 percent threshold for a nomination almost kicked in last night, and would have triggered a statewide convention for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination.
Nearly complete returns show Christopher Reed with 35.3 percent, in a result that’s eerily similar to the 2002 GOP Governor’s race.
