Work force education needs in Iowa are rapidly changing as the growing renewable fuels industry demands skilled workers to fill newly created jobs.
Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, will be in Davenport Friday to discuss the education needs of the energy industry, and he’ll be bringing a congressional heavyweight along for a tour of an Iowa educational facility. Braley will be accompanied by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., on a tour of the John T. Blong Technology Center at Eastern Iowa Community College.
Braley will promote his New Era Act, legislation that would create a grant program for community colleges to initiate and expand work-force education programs for the renewable energy industry. Braley’s legislation was included in the House version of the 2007 Farm Bill, which passed the House in July.
