King: Electing Obama could lead to ‘totalitarian dictatorship’

By Douglas Burns | 10.25.08 | 3:05 pm

SIOUX CITY — Warming up a crowd in Sioux City this morning for GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, U.S. Rep. Steve King said Republicans are not going far enough to paint Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama as the purveyor of a socialist agenda.

King, known for provocative, partisan remarks, suggested Obama actually could be classified as even more extreme than a socialist. King also said his party is the only one with a legitimate claim on representing freedom as Americans know it.

“When you take a lurch to the left you end up in a totalitarian dictatorship,” King said.  “There is no freedom to the left. It’s always to our side of the aisle.”

King said the nation can either embrace government to solve its problems, or it can choose freedom and liberty.

“We choose freedom and liberty,” he said.

Talk about “hate”…Barack and Michelle Obama were members of a hateful racist 'church' for 20 years…

Would that he'd said this inflammatory, grossly anti-American diatribe somewhere like on Hardball where it might've been useful (a la the fundraising backlash against Michele Bachmann after she made similar remarks that raised over a million bucks for her opponent's theretofore impoverished campaign and caused the RNCC to join the Dump Bachmann bandwagon.) But King is so safe in his district he could publicly admit to having a many a wild night of mutually satisfying sadomasochistic intergenerational bisexual sexual threesomes with his mother and father and still get enough votes to keep his seat.

I don't know why I continue to be surprised at the fear tactics that are being employed against Obama. That this elected official actually used the term, “totalitarian dictatorship” is amazing. The funny thing about this recent spate of baseless charges of Marxism, totalitarianism and radical liberalism is that I think true liberals fear that Obama will be too centrist, if he's elected. I believe Obama will prove to be a pragmatist, not an ideologue. Let's hope the voters in Iowa find this nonsense as laughable as the rest of us do.

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”

These are Obama's words. …Also, his unintentional honest answer to the plummer about redistribution is a hallmark of marxism/socialism.

So, say what you like, but these charges are far from baseless. They spring from his own mouth, not thin air.

Plus, he also considers the Constitution “fundamentally flawed.” His words, not mine.

Now, as President, how is supposed to uphold the Constitution if he finds it flawed in it's very core. Perhaps by rewriting it?

No. The concerns about Obama are far from baseless.

Assuming for the moment that what Steve King says is correct, given the state of the race, shouldn't Steve King be praising Obama as Dear Leader?

I mean, if Steve King is right, he's surely the first one going to the gulag now.

(All the more reason to vote Obama for me, I guess.)

I'm sure the guy in Hollywood with the mock lynching of Sarah Palin is motivated by love, as are the crazies at the Daily Kos.

Anything McCain or Palin say is hateful, according to MSM. Palin's comment about “palling around with terrorists” was considered racist by one AP writer even though the terrorists are white. Imagine the fun the media could have with “Slow Joe” Biden and his gaffs of the day if it wasn't in the tank.

I can't, for the life of me, understand why people can't see BO for what he is. Why do they call it “fear tactics”, when people point out or question the facts that BO has made poor choices in his associates and made comments-on tape- that are sooooo socialistic? If you add it ALL up, it hints at a dark and supressive future if that man is elected. And while we're talking about fear tactics, what exactly do you call threatening and cutting off a news organization that asked questions that you didn't like so much?

This man is Michelle Bachmann without the lipstick. He is one of the most ignorant, bigoted ineffective people in Congress. For video of his wretched remarks, go here: here<.

      Is that you, Susan?

The extremes are never best for all – I wouldn't cherish a country run by Christian fundamentals either. We can only hope this man, whom we really don't know very well, is what he is CURRENTLY claiming to be. My gut tells me not to trust Obama's leadership. My head tells me, we'd have the right checks and balances in place to head the totalitarian extreme off at the pass. I would find much more comfort in Barack's leadership if we didn't have Pelosi, Franks, and other misguided Dems filling the Congress with their form of extremism and contribution to our economic vulnerabilities. We need CHECKS AND BALANCES. It really bothers me that our FBI would not give clearance for an agent with Obama's past. Yet we will adopt him into our American republic to govern as President – he has so little invested in American heritage compared to McCain. Dear Citizens, vote with your heart AND mind. Keep your emotions in check! Let's come back to Obama when the time is right?!
