The race between two incumbents in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District is one of 10 bellwether races for who controls Congress, according to a Politico article.
Reporter Alex Isenstadt wrote the race between U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Des Moines Democrat, and Rep. Tom Latham, currently an Ames Republican, in the newly-drawn southwest Iowa district is “the closest thing to a fair fight in 2012.”
“With Latham battling Boswell, both sides could pour millions into a contest expected to be among the most expensive in the country,” Isenstadt wrote. “Both incumbents are respected, proven campaigners, and the final result could well hinge on which way the national winds are blowing.”
Last week Isenstadt identified the fundraising races in Iowa’s 3rd and 4th Congressional Districts as among “10 FEC reports to watch.”
