Paul earns three Story County endorsements

By Lynda Waddington | 08.11.11 | 11:29 am

If the Ames Straw Poll was limited to only GOP activists from Story County, it would appear that the Ron Paul presidential campaign had a leg up. On Thursday the campaign announced its third endorsement from GOP Story County chairmen.

The most recent endorsement for the Texas Congressman comes from former Story County Chairman Heath Hill, who cited Paul’s support of the 10th Amendment as his reasoning.

“My endorsement of Congressman Ron Paul today is not simply because he wants to shrink the size of the Federal Government. It is because he is the only presidential candidate who would have invoked the Tenth Amendment and not granted the Federal Government 95 percent of its current size, power and programs in the first place,” said Hill, who is employed as market president at Premier Credit Union in Ames.

“If you want to preserve your community, preserve your liberties and reverse the tide of the ever-growing, ever in debt, and ever-intrusive federal government, please stand with me this Saturday at the Ames Straw Poll in support of Congressman Ron Paul for President in 2012.”

The endorsement was made Thursday morning before a rallying crowd at the Ames Hilton Garden Inn during an event that also featured his son, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Paul was previously endorsed by Cory Adams, current Story County GOP chairman, and A.J. Spiker, a previous chairman. Spiker also serves as vice-chairman of the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign in Iowa, and is a member of the Republican State Central Committee.

Ames, home to Iowa State University, will play host once again to the Iowa GOP’s presidential straw poll, which is expected to be attended on Saturday by thousands of Republican activists from throughout the state. Although Ames is the most populous community in the Story County, Nevada is the county seat.

Ron Paul’s ascendancy reminds me of the Ronald Regan campaigns. The party that now brags about Regan fought conservatives tooth and nail right up to the floor fight at the convention, which resulted in that unholy compromise of making George H.W. Bush the VP nominee. The party hacks and the media laughed the Gipper off as just an actor, a dreamer and clearly unelectable. Today, despite the groundswell of support for Ron Paul, the party hacks and the pundits in the media call the good doctor an unelectable fringe candidate. However, after my experience of campaigning for Ronald Reagan for almost 12 years, I know what is possible on a third run for the presidency. We the People will have our say and the establishment will once again be dumbfounded.

And related to that is the fact that Dr. Paul was one of only four congressman to endorse Reagan in 1976 and led the TX Reagan delegation at the RNC convention.  Ahead of the curve then and now.

  • Brite Ideas

He got support because he’s the only candidate in the race with a proven record of integrity. Time to wake up and smell the coffee.Ron Paul also has received THE MOST donations from the military than ALL of the other “R’s” COMBINED!! Even more than Obama!!
He also got the most in 2008. Even more than McCain. Check the F.E.C. numbers for yourself.
The “troops” have voted with their dollars. The people are waking up to the fact that BOTH parties (at the top) are corrupt, and for the same globalist agenda, which is more war, more spending, more debt., less freedom, less sovereignty, and less prosperity. He’s the ONLY Military veteran in the race. (sensible foreign policy, troop support, strong National defense)
He’s the ONLY doctor in the race. (healthcare mess)
He’s the ONLY economist in the race. (predicted the 2008 collapse)
He’s the ONLY one with a PROVEN record of fidelity to his oath to the Constitution. (we can trust him to follow the rules that were set forth)He’s the ONLY one that will bring our precious troops home  and defend our OWN BORDERS, not Iraq, Afghanistan, or Pakistan. BRING ‘EM HOME!!Keep voting for the smoothest speech, the shiniest boots, the nicest hair, and beauty pageant winners with no brains, no plan, or no substance, and this country is finished.Quit falling for the phony Christians that exploit their supposed faith for another agenda. Quit falling for more empty rhetoric. Quit falling for more of the same BROKEN PROMISES.Quit letting the media do your thinking for you. They are NOT our friend. They serve the Corporate, and special interests that pull the strings behind the scenes. OF COURSE they are going to go against Ron Paul. He threatens their little crap game.LAST chance to get it right IOWA. The future of this nation is in our hands this week. Do the right thing at the straw poll this weekend, and vote for substance over style. Principle over party politics.Don’t get fooled again. Please dear God, don’t get FOOLED again.”

“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no
vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of
    justice isno virtue!” Barry Goldwater”

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more
efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to
promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to
pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs,
but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that
have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an
unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether
legislation is “needed” before I have first determined
whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be
attacked for neglecting my constituents’ “interests,” I
shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty
and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can.” Barry

Senator Barry Goldwater’s son, former Congressman Barry
Goldwater Jr. endorses Ron Paul. Ron Paul has been warning us for
so long of the impending economicdisaster we are seeing today,
and he has been purposefully working to wake us to realize we
must change our course to save the Republic. I take Ron Paul
very seriously. He may not be the most polished public speaker,
but he speaks the truth with unvarnished power; He needs no
teleprompter to carry on an intelligent discourse for over two
hours to apacked auditorium of twenty and thirty something
voters! He may not be the  tallest, or the most strikingly
handsome candidate, but people wantthe Real Deal

When fascism goes to sleep it looks under the bed for Ron Paul.

He has never taken a government junket.

He does not participate in the lucrative Congressional Pension Program.

He returns a portion of his annual Congressional Office Budget every

He has never voted to raise taxes.

He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

He voted no to the bankster bailout.

He voted no to raising the debt ceiling and warned us against
the “Super Congress” part of the legislation that resembles both
an “ Enabling Act” and a “Politburo.”

He has never voted to restrict gun ownership.

He has never voted to raise Congressional Pay.

He never voted to increase Executive Branch Power.

He will Reinstate TheConstitution and Save The Republic

He will END the unconstitutional FED.

He will phase out the unconstitutional IRS beginning immediately

    He will secure the borders

He will limit Big Government in your private affairs

He will stop Illegal immigration and no amnesty

He voted against regulating the Internet

He voted against the Iraq War and warned us against going forward with
an undeclared war.“Let it not be said that no one cared, that
no one objected once it’s realized that our liberty and wealth are in
    Jeopardy”  July 10th, 2003

He voted against the un-patriotic so called Patriot Act.

He supports a non-interventionist foreign policy yet a strong military

Hewill end the inflation tax He is a true Constitutional

He would have soundly beat Obama in 2008 because Independents trust him and like him.

We could have had a V8 instead of McCain’t in 08

    Ron Paul for President 2012

Because no one else can be trusted to say what he
means and do what he says like Ron Paul does.

Ron Paul is the man of the hour. They used to laugh him for being way ahead of the others in his thinking and his warnings. Now, they are not laughing
because what he predicted is coming to pass. Now, he is being called
a prophet for having warned us and still calmly suffered through the
barbs. “First they, ignore you, then they fight you, then you
    win.” Gandhi

If not Ron Paul who? This fine man has more accumulated wisdom with the fortitude and character to put it into action than any other candidate that has ran in my lifetime. He’ll do what he says and has the voting record of over 2 decades to prove it unlike ANY other candidate. Be very careful who you chose because this may be our last chance to wrest control away from the bankers and globalist set on destroying this nation.

This why I love ron paul I dare you to have courage enough to have a objective ear and leave all your preconceived Idea’s and listen like you have never heard him before.

As a young naive voter, uninformed, and emotionally caught up in the historical moment, I voted for Obama. Like many young voters, I figured anyone would be better than what we had gone through with Bush.  And McCain wasn’t the man he used to be, so that was out of the question.  It wasn’t until after the 08 election that I really started listening to Ron Paul.

Where had this guy been all my life, why didn’t I know more about him, was someone or something trying to keep me from knowing more? Yes, “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA!”,that’s who.  How long did they think they could keep this up for?  Because I’ll tell you a lot of young people I know conservative and liberal have been investigating, and the secrecy and downplaying of this man is only driving us closer!  Us younger voters are waking up, and we’re not falling for mass prayer circles, or neo-con Tea Party imposters who falsely use popular movements for their crooked hidden agendas.

What more is to be discussed, when the man predicted and warned us about all the chaos that is happening right now, FOR DECADES!  And you won’t find a more consistent, untarnished, uncorrupted record anywhere.  I feel so foolish for not listening sooner, I feel like I have committed treason on some level.  I get a lump in the back of my throat when I listen to Ron Paul, I really get a sense of a patriotic, caring man who loves his country.

All these other candidates will just let the insidious looting of our country continue and keep us in eternal servitude to Federal Reserve, and the central banks.

Thank you for recognizing Ron Paul’s efforts in Iowa. He is doing very well, but the rest of the media doesn’t want the world to know.
Today, I listened to relatives of innocent Libyans who were killed in NATO
bombings weeping for their lost loved ones. Who else is REALLY listening to them? Only Ron Paul. He is the ONLY peace candidate. Where are all the people who love peace? Don’t the American people realize how much blood we have on our hands from our unprovoked wars?
    We MUST ELECT RON PAUL!!!!!!!!!!
