Karger intends to debate in Ames

By Meghan Malloy | 08.05.11 | 1:42 pm

Little known GOP candidate Fred Karger said after garnering two percent in the latest Harris poll, he has qualified to debate next Thursday in Ames with his GOP opponents, and fully intends to do so.

In a Friday letter to Iowa GOP chair Matt Strawn and media officials from Fox News, Karger said he has met the last criteria to be considered a debate contender, which is to earn a one percent average in “in five national polls based on most recent polling leading up to the registration day.”

Karger has been ranked at two percent in a Thursday Harris poll; at 1 percent in a July 25 Zogby poll; at 1 percent in a May 23 Zogby poll; at one percent in an April 28 Fox New poll, and finally at less than one percent in a June 29 McClathy-Marist poll, according to his letter.

The letter states:

I am a declared Republican candidate for President of the United States who meets all of the requirements to participate in the Fox News Debate on August 11, 2011 in Ames Iowa.

Your criteria states:

Candidates must satisfy the following by 4 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, August 9, 2011

1. Registered with the Federal Elections Commission as a presidential exploratory committee or presidential campaign.

2. Meet all U.S. Constitutional requirements.

3. Garnered at least an average of one percent in five national polls based on most recent polling leading up to the registration day.

Attached is a new national poll that came out yesterday.  It was conducted by Harris Interactive, sample size 1,168 that was in the field between August 2 – 4, 2011.  The Harris Poll tested all 12 major declared Republican candidates for President.  I am at 2%, tied with former Governors Tim Pawlenty and Jon Huntsman.  With this latest national poll, I now meet your objective criteria of averaging at least 1% in five national polls.

I look forward to participating in the August 11, 2011 debate in Ames, Iowa and await all details.

Thank you for hosting the Republican debates.

The Fox News GOP debate will happen two days before the Ames Straw Poll. Karger is not a Straw Poll contender, nor is he on the ballot.

Karger, of California, has been a political consultant and gay rights activist. He is the first openly gay presidential candidate.

Let him debate!  He can’t be as bad as Santorum!

…and might actually know what santorum means.  Seriously look it up.

No Thanks, perverted stool samples like this drooler belong in the democRAT party, not the GOP.

      • Anonymous

You don’t get to decide who can belong to the GOP.  People who try to dictate who gets to belong to what belong in the Democrat Party.  And get your mind out of the bedroom.  You’re sex obsessed.

I think I’d watch that debate.

seriously HE’d make it WORTH watching!

What does it mean when a person says that he is an “open homosexual”?

I’ll tell you. They practice  disgusting, disease spreading, life shortening, sexual acts! And amazingly have convinced the world that these chosen acts-qualify them for a distinct status and grouping with those of the immutable (born with) characteristics of gender and ethnicity!

No legitimate study has found a “gay gene,” and no one was born that way! People
become addicted to homosexuality through a number of often complicated factors.
And the worldwide ex-gay movement has shown that people can heal and change if
    they desire.

It’s commonly estimated that male homosexual behavior takes 20 years off one’s
life. Homosexual men commonly have hundreds (even thousands) of sexual partners
and suffer from alcohol and drug problems, plus high rates of partner abuse.
Loneliness and depression are par for the course.
Never mind your bigot and homophobic card, or your-”judge not” talking point, these are true facts- and the truth will set you free!

I really hope the majority of people in this country aren’t nearly as ignorant, misinformed and bitter as you. I have plenty of gay friends and not one of them is a drug addict or spread diseases. As a matter of fact most of them probably live richer lives than you could ever hope for. the best part, get this, is that they’re happy and don’t spend their time belittling anyone else to make themselves feel better. The truth will set you free? your right, the truth is gay people exist all over this country ( all over the world)  you love so much, fighting our wars, volunteering, working hard, succeeding. And by your comments alone i hope you realize that the gay people you hate so much probably rank higher than you no only as a functional beneficial member of society, but as an over all general person as well. Get your head out of the outdated self interpreted bible you people base your lives around and realize that if god TRULY hated any group of people, then maybe he would have done something about it already. In the meantime Were all living in the same world here and they’re are good and bad people existing no matter what race / gender / or sexual orientation. Its people like you that are the problem.

The most hateful scum on Earth are the homoNazis who infest the democRAT trailer park.  You perverts hate decent people simply because we will not celebrate your sickening, disgusting sexual choices.

They have a lot of really good studies with proof that the earth is flat that I think you’ll be really interested in checking out. I don’t know you but want you to live your life full of information on factually based studies. I love you.

P.S. PLEASE get on national television so we can all have a good chuckle. I bet Fox News would even let you take Karger’s spot if you call them up.

You are correct.  Gay, conservative talk show host Tammy Bruce has labeled them the “Gay Gestapo” and it certainly exists.  We don’t all vote Democrat though.  I’m very vocal about my opposition to the Democrat Party in front of my gay friends.  There is a larger voting block of gays for the Republican Party than one would believe.

        • Anonymous

No one is asking you to celebrate anything, and im fairly certain most of the trailer parks you speak of are filled with bible quoting republicans who will believe anything anyone says as long as they are holding a book cover with a cross and holding waiving a gun around. And frankly sickening disgusting choices is a very biased opinionated statement considering all republicans have done for this country is slow down the progress in medicine, job gaining, alternative fuel research and all around social acceptance, you know all things that actually benefit PEOPLE, all while sitting back and reaping the benefits of simple minded people like yourself who are so easily manipulated and too ignorant to ever see it. You want to live in the dark ages, so be it. But me i enjoy progress( culturally, socialy, etc) and hopefully one day everyone realizing that to each their own without some hate slur or simple minded insult like ” homonazi” which im sure took you a more than enough time to sit around with your buddies drinking beer and thinking one up. No sir, i refuse to stoop as low as someone like yourself an even pretend to be better than anyone else in this world by tossing derogatory names and slurs out. Because once again you proven to me how you people are the real problem. And i hope one day you realize this and actually use that energy you channel into hate into something productive for your country.

Typical immoral liberal rebuttal- attack the messenger and not one shred of comment on the facts of the message!. There is absolutely no proof of immutable sexual orientation! There would be no children or ongoing society if 2 men had to produce. Therefore, it is a learned and chosen orientation to fulfill the sexual desires of the sodomite!
Sodomy is condemned by all major religions, therefore one must choose to break the laws of their religion, and reap the consequences of multiple sexual acts with unknown partners!
These statements are true facts and your silly and immature blather are actually the joke!

How are you so certain what goes on in the bedroom?  I don’t care what happens in your bedroom between consenting adults so why are you so obsessed with what goes on in mine?  You think I’m ignorant about venereal diseases or passages from the Old Testament?

          • Grace Gabriel

If only the queer would leave their perversion in the bedroom.  Open gay and gay rights activist means he is opening his bedroom door for the world too see.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NYW5STFQ4GOX66HMB6CHFVI72E Shaun

Wait, a majority of the Christian right still wants anti-sodomy laws. They still want to imprison gay men for consensual sex with other adults. You guys just hate homosexuality and you will have sex police in order to stop people who are gay, even if they just stay in their bedrooms. Why are you so obsessed with their sex lives anyway? Pro-gay rights heterosexuals don’t focus on the sex lives of gays, why do anti-gay heterosexuals do?

    • Anonymous

Of course people are born this way. There is no gay gene, but countless studies show the brains of gay men and heterosexual women are identical in certain areas which are different in straight men.  Just conduct a web search on “brains gay men straight women” and there are a plethora of articles.

If I were you I’d be incredibly thankful that homosexuality was not my cross to carry in this life because it is hell on earth.  I assure you.

      • Anonymous

Nope- No scientific study -of any value- has ever found genes, brains, or DNA that is the cause of homosexuality! I know-I’ve read it all!
Thousands have change their sexual orientation- (or really their desires) to a successful and very happy hetero life!
Somewhere you have brainwashed with false “born with” ideas!

Excellent point, all those animals in hundreds of species with gay members, obviously chose to be gay. The gay elephants, tigers, bears and lions, oh my. They just chose that lifestyle, huh? Of course, you never chose to be what you are, a pompous windbag.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CRTOLIO6KX7ARP2XABCYMD52WA AR

So, you know this because you are…gay? Around gays? An expert at being gay? Have had gay encounters? Straight people are just as sexually promiscuous and at the same time repressed, just as likely to drink and do drugs (i.e. white trash), and as far as ‘sexual acts’…how do you know? Hiding something? Why the hell do you even care? Ever heard the phrase, “The squeakiest wheel wants to get greased?” Think about it. Also, think about all the straight, republican men arrested in airport bathrooms wanting sezx from other men because they supposedly cant get it at home from their wives. YOU are the one one that should ‘judge not’

  • Grace Gabriel

There is no such thing as a conservative who is a “gay” rights activist.

The era of anti-gay hostility towards gays and lesbians in the GOP, is coming to an end. Well, for another decade they will play to those who are rabidly hostile to gay rights in the GOP, but the end can be seen. America is moving on from its’ anti-gay ideology. They don’t care what someone’s sex life is, along as they are a productive citizen. Most gay men and women are just that.
