Paul team reaches out to Iowa farmers

By Lynda Waddington | 08.03.11 | 12:17 pm

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul‘s Iowa campaign announced Wednesday that they will begin a national outreach campaign into the nation’s agricultural sector, entitled the “Farmers for Ron Paul” coalition.

The announcement included key Iowa-based supporters involved in the ag industry.

Jason Schultz

“As a farmer, I have seen the waste and unintended consequences of government programs that are outside the federal government’s mandate. Ron Paul’s record spanning thirty years of Constitutional conservatism proves that he doesn’t say one thing and then do another. He’s the one candidate who will steer our country back toward the liberty and prosperity that comes with true, limited government,” said Rep. Jason Schultz (R-Schleswig), who serves on the “Farmers for Ron Paul” national advisory board, makes a living crop farming soybeans and corn and endorsed Paul on July 25.

Dairy farmer and food choice advocate Tom German said, “Ron Paul’s policies provide farm families the best opportunity to succeed using the God-given resources with which they’ve been blessed. He promotes liberty for the benefit of individuals so that they may more freely and flexibly provide for their family, and improve their farm.”

German will serve on the national advisory board and is co-chairman of the campaign in Iowa’s 4th District.

In Iowa, the agriculture industry provides roughly 28 percent of the state’s economy.

Hey, at least this one stole a Chuck Norrism.  That’s something new.

Honestly, there’s something very off-putting about the short, repetitive absolutes with the bizarre line staggering.  It suggests fanaticism, together with a major disconnect from the rational.  I picture these people standing in front of a mirror, repeating their litany and hoping Ron Paul will appear…

Funny, as Iowa farmers received $22 billion in federal farm subsidies from 1995-2010. They’d be shooting themselves in the foot if they voted on Ron Paul.  Not that I agree with farm subsidies, as I don’t, and I’m sure Pual doesn’t either, but this is a waste of time.

    • Em_pty Skin

no it’s not a waste of time.  They are already shooting themselves in the foot by giving themselves a handicap when it comes to international competition.  They are not competitive in the world market without getting free money from the government for one reason or another. That is a problem.

Believe it or not, many farmers today would rather not get subsidies because they now see the deleterious effects on food prices.  Plus, new FDA rules regarding farm machinery for example are costing them their business.  It’s not far-fetched at all to see farmers support Ron Paul.

Our country will grow with such a surge that people will wonder how did we ever sink so low. This country is so rich that no one knows how much that has been taken as bounty for the banking cartel. Ron Paul will give you a reason to have a wallet again. I hope everyone knows that we can’t keep going like we are and remain free. Don’t think for one minute that China doesn’t know how much this country is worth.

It’s fun to imagine all the Paul supporters — or the one or two with free time to create multiple accounts — all jump in and vote up docdave1′s cut and paste advertisement for Ron Paul.

So many of you have laughed at what you perceive as Obama Mania and rabid-eyed devotees to one person who will fix the country.  Yet here you are doing what you criticize.

America’s problems will not be fixed by one person, regardless of Ron Paul’s positive attributes.

I actually kind of like Ron Paul, but this posting mania isn’t helping him.  It just makes him look foolish.
