You may have missed it in Sunday’s Des Moines Register (since it was buried on page 12A), but according to the paper’s Iowa Poll Gov. Chet Culver’s job approval rating has risen to 60 percent.
A similar poll in February by the Register found 52 percent of Iowans approved of the job Culver is doing, and a Survey USA poll in May gave the governor a 51 percent approval rating.
From the Register:
Culver’s approval improved modestly with Democrats, to 70 percent, and with Republicans, to 41 percent. He improved markedly among political independents, from 51 percent in February to 63 percent.
Culver’s predecessor, Tom Vilsack, had a 73 percent approval rating at this point in his term.
The polling, conducted by Selzer & Co. Inc. of Des Moines, is based on interviews with 801 Iowans ages 18 or older.
