Three state Supreme Court justices will be sworn in by Gov. Terry Branstad Friday, officials from the Governor’s Office said.
Justices Thomas Waterman, Edward Mansfield and Bruce Zager were appointed by Branstad in February, following their nomination by the State Judicial Nominating Commission, to fill the three vacancies left after the 2010 elections.
Former Justices Michael Streit and David Baker, and former Chief Justice Marsha Ternus were ousted from office by public vote last Nov. 2. Their terms expired Dec. 31.
The swearing-in will take place at 2 p.m. in the historic Supreme Court chamber on the first floor the Iowa Capitol Building.
