Party night at GOP headquarters

By admin | 09.16.08 | 8:00 pm

Republicans, it seems, have all the fun.

Today, Sen. John McCain’s Iowa campaign “honored” Sen. Barack Obama with a “Star of Fame” to commemorate his status as a celebrity.  And tonight, their phone-calling volunteers will have to explain to voters why the dulcet tones of Barbra Streisand might be audible in the background of their calls.

The McCain campaign’s party invitation press release is below.

DES MOINES, IA — In honor of Barack Obama’s star-studded Hollywood fundraiser with Barbra Streisand tonight, the McCain-Palin campaign honored Obama with a celebrity “Star of Fame.” Additionally, in the spirit of the fundraiser, tonight the Iowa Victory Office phone banks will play Barbra Streisand songs.

“While Barack Obama is posing for pictures with Hollywood’s elite, some of whom are contributing $28,500 — a price substantially unaffordable to the average Iowan — Iowa families are worrying about how what’s happening on Wall Street will affect their lives on Main Street,” said Gentry Collins, the McCain Midwest Regional Campaign Manager. “We don’t know whether Barack Obama will use this opportunity to disparage ‘bitter’ Iowans who ‘cling to guns or religion,’ as he did at one of his most recent California fundraisers, but we know that Iowa families are worrying about the current financial crisis and how to heat their homes this winter. Tonight’s fundraiser is further proof that Barack Obama is out of touch and can’t relate to the needs of Iowa voters. He’s wrong on the economy, his health care plan needs work and he lacks the experience and judgment we need in a president; however, we do think he makes one heck of a cel ebrity and deserves his own star in Hollywood. We hope this star reminds Senator Obama of the serious challenges hard-working Iowa families face every day.”

Anyone that votes for McCain Palin must either be of the evangelical community or in the 5 percentile of the very rich. Because the rest of us have had a pretty rough time under the Republican and the Bush administration. I see little hope for the average person in this country if the Republicans take the white House. The middle class is disappearing. I was thinking of voting for McCain because he showed a little backbone. But his appointment of Sarah Palin demonstrated to me that the good ole boy NEOCONs are once again in the drivers seat.

Allan Grenspan has stated the McCain economic policy would be disastrous.

Sarah Palins resume is beauty queen, local weather girl, 4 years on a small town city council and 6 years as the mayor of a small town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people. Quit frankly the thought of Ms. Palin sitting across the table from the likes of a Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chills me to the bone. Given McCains health issues and age Ms. Palin could in deed become the President Of The United States. SCARY VERY SCARY.

ONCE AGAIN- Allan Grenspan has stated the McCain economic policy would be disastrous.

Why doesn't the Right Wing media point out the 5-figure-per-plate fundraisers featuring Pres. Bush the McCain campaign benefits from regularly? Obama doesn't have the silent well of evil billioniaires to draw money from like the Republicans do. He's having to go to REAL people for funding and can only raise the big bucks in a public setting.
The typical Republican campaign is like Romney's where a rich white guy can finance it ALL, all you “low information voters” have to do is show up to GOP rallies and bask in the HATE.

Good grief, with all the problems this country faces, they're being this catty? Do they forget that their candidate is a media hound and a multimillionaire? Good grief.

Im sorry but I dont identify with a man that cant remember how many houses he owns, and I dont think many Iowans own so many houses they forget how many there are….say 7…..
