Facebook effort by racing fans to ‘bump Trump’ from pace car is gaining speed

By Lynda Waddington | 05.04.11 | 1:16 pm

Comments made by real estate mogul and potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in relation to President Barack Obama‘s birth certificate haven’t gone over too well with some racing fans. Thousands have joined a Facebook effort dedicated to pressuring Indianapolis 500 organizers to remove Trump as pace car driver.

The page, “We Don’t Want Donald Trump to Drive the Indy 500 Pace Car,” began on Facebook April 8, according to Indystar, and currently has nearly 12,000 “likes” by Facebook users — at least 1,000 happening Wednesday. In addition to the “official” page, users have also posted comments directly to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, corporate sponsor IZOD and pace car program sponsor Chevrolet.

“Driving the pace car should not be used as a sound board for some terrible businessman to spew his political aspirations,” said racing fan Chris Hughes, Indianapolis. “Especially with this being the 100th anniversary.”

The speedway announced April 5 that Trump would drive the pace car, which was before Trump was widely considered a part of 2012 presidential field. Officials noted that they have received calls both for and against Trump’s participation.

A local group of Baptist ministers joined the movement Tuesday by issuing a statement that it is deeply concerned about the “petulant, poisonous and racist remarks” made by Trump.

Also, Georgetown University Professor Michael Eric Dyson said recently on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Trump’s comments about Obama’s ability to get into Harvard despite not being a “good student” was racist, as it questioned a black man’s intelligence.

The Baptist Ministers Alliance of Indianapolis and Vicinity called on IMS to immediately rescind its invitation to Trump.

“(We) believe that the leadership and management of the IMS are people of integrity and good will, and we are hopeful that (they) will do right thing,” said Stephen J. Clay, president of the organization.

Supporters of the effort, who will likely attend the race regardless of Trump’s participation, are now considering race-day protest methods if their attempts to oust Trump fail.

“In racing when a driver shouldn’t be on the track we waive a black flag, so the thought has come along, well, if Donald Trump comes by in a pace car how many black flags can be waving?” Michael Wallack, founder of the Facebook movement, told a local Fox affiliate.

Trump’s mistake was letting Obama play him in the birther discussion. That Obama was born in the USA is not the issue. Obama is not eligible to be President because he was never naturalized by taking the oath of allegiance as the Naturalization Act of 1790 and 1795 indicate. Because Obama’s dad was a British subject, the founders mandated an oath to the Constitution against Kings, Queens, Princes, and foreign states, by naturalization, which Obama never did, or has done.

If being born here was legit, Al zawiri could cross the border, impregnate a woman, and that kid could be President. Trump blew it. But the issue might not go away. Constitutionalists already have lawsuits on this issue. They need a sitdown with the SCOTUS.

      ourfounderingtruth,

I’m assuming that somewhere in your ancestry, there was a person who was not born in this country and was a citizen of a foreign state. Do you have proof that their children took this Oath? Until you can provide that proof, I guess you have to question your legitimacy and trustworthiness as well. What proof do we have that ANY of our ancestors took this Oath? Under your premise, maybe NO ONE is eligible to be president!

Naturalization is a process reserved for non-citizens to become citizens. As you just stated, Obama was born in the United States which makes him a citizen at birth.

The law in this century, specifically SEC. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401] in the Immigration and Nationality Act states:

The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:

      (a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;

Until you find a time machine to take you back to the 18th century, keep posting your pretzel logic, it is a sad, yet oddly entertaining spectacle

I’m not trying to be President.

As you just stated, Obama was born in the United States which makes him a citizen at birth.>>>>

Where did I say that? Face it, Both Obama’s parents had to be naturalized or he had to take the Oath of allegiance, mandated in the Constitution, and Naturalization Acts of 1790 and 1795, which he didn’t. He is ineligible to be President.

My poor, poor founderingtruth You and your type are the reasons the U.S. is the laughing stock of the political world.

Sarcasm is truly wasted on you and apparently you don’t know what the term naturalized citizen means. As you have sagely written before, look it up, there are links out there. Never mind, here is a definition:

“Naturalization is the acquisition of citizenship or nationality by somebody who was not a citizen or national of that country when he or she was born.”

Now you say Obama’s mother, a natural born citizen with two parents who were citizens as well has to be reacquire her citizenship (be naturalized) because why? You are a complete and utter IDIOT!!

Think about this. Were you born in the U.S.? Were both your parents born in the U.S.?? According to your argument, you would have take this so called Oath of Allegiance as well. Can you prove that you have? Honestly, where do you think you live, Soviet Russia?

I would suggest that you actually go look at modern, applicable law to see what constitutes a natural born citizen who is eligible to be the President of the United States but I’m afraid your brain would explode trying to grasp the concept.

Please go back to you sad, pitiful blog. I checked it out and it appears you can’t even get relatives to make comments to inflate the numbers and make it look like anybody gives a rats patootee about your rants.

Trump’s mistake was in being a caricature of himself, and of the worst American qualities: arrogance, ignorance, self-indulgence, refusal to accept evidence when it conflicts with his beliefs, narcissism, a raging superiority complex, and really, really bad hair. Perhaps as such he deserves to be the face of America to the world….but good luck finding enough idiots to vote for him. Oh, wait…

Trump should NOT be allowed to drive the Indi 500 pace car. He does not represent the spirit of the American People.
Besides…will he actually fit in the car?
