Former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack ended speculation Wednesday by launching a website in conjunction with a “Christie Vilsack for Iowa Exploratory Committee.”
Welcome! Thank you so much for taking time to visit my website. Vibrant communities and a healthy economy are crucial for our future, and your ideas about what we can do together are important to me as I consider running in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. That’s why I plan to spend the next several weeks visiting with residents and families throughout the district, and listening to what you have to say. In case we don’t see one another, please email me at Christie@ChristieVilsackforIowa.com and share your ideas about the kind of leadership and action you believe we need.
The newly formed 4th District combined Republican incumbents Tom Latham (existing 4th District) and Steve King (existing 5th District). Latham has since announced that he will move in order to challenge Democratic incumbent Leonard Boswell, who represents the existing 3rd Congressional District. King is expected to seek and win the Republican nomination in the newly formed 4th District, which would set up the general election contest between King and Vilsack.
In addition to the exploratory committee website, a Facebook Page, “Christie Vilsack for Iowa,” was launched Wednesday.
