Tim Pawlenty’s courting of young voters with pop-culture references didn’t go unnoticed by one media icon: Stephen Colbert. At a gathering of Iowa college Republicans Friday, Pawlenty said Barack Obama won’t keep the youth vote because “he duped the young people in this country.”
Dropping references to Charlie Sheen, tiger blood and Lady Gaga, Pawlenty said young people have a “Bad Romance” with Obama.
“I gotta say,” Colbert said, “it’s like Pawlenty ripped those references from the headlines, then stored them in a drawer for a couple of months, then re-ripped them from his drawer and put them in a speech. Tim’s rappin’ ’bout pop culture is sure to attract the kidses.”
