Wednesday was a difficult day for The American Independent News Network, which is the larger entity that operates The Iowa Independent. Our chief executive and founder announced two of our sister sites would close and their content would be moved to The American Independent.
A recently introduced bill could have far-reaching impact on the U.S. sugar industry, including American Crystal Sugar, a farmer-owned cooperative that locked out 1,300 Midwest workers on Aug. 1.
The chairman for Herman Cain’s Iowa effort says the campaign “relied more on the word of farmers than Washington regulators” in deciding to run an ad containing claims the Environmental Protection Agency says are false.

Likely 2012 Republican presidential candidate, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, said Tuesday billionaire Donald Trump needs to stop questioning President Obama‘s birth location.
“I, for one, believe that we should not be raising that issue in the sense that I think President Obama was born in the United States,” Pawlenty said Tuesday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe program. “I’m not playing into that.”
Indeed, Obama was born in the U.S. and has released his birth certificate publicly. It’s available at a website Organizing for America set up, called FightTheSmears.com, and has been vetted by various news agencies and government officials.
Those critics who say the birth certificate isn’t good enough call for the “long-form birth certificate,” although what the President released is the same document accepted for a citizen to verify their status as native-born for virtually anything.
Pawlenty stopped short of saying Trump wasn’t a serious candidate, and instead adopted a “wait-and-see” approach on if Trump’s latest attempt to stir speculation of a presidential run will culminate in a campaign..
Trump has spent the past week making appearances on various television outlets questioning Obama’s birth certificate and even called for an investigation of Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI).
Prior to Abercrombie’s election, his predecessor, Republican Linda Lingle, also vouched for Obama’s citizenship. A birth announcement also exists from a local Hawaiian newspaper.
“You know what I get a kick out of? The governor of Hawaii says, ‘Oh I remember when he was born 50 years ago.’ I doubt it,” Trump said Monday on Fox & Friends. “I think this guy should be investigated. I doubt he remembers when Obama was born. Give me a break.”
Pawlenty had my vote, but not now… Now I am voting For Trump or whoever he supports. Pawlenty is on the losing endon this debate and with the Green House/Global warming.WE the People want the Truth. If Pawlenty was smart he’d show His Long Form Birth Certificate too!
based on your thinking processes, anyone you vote for is gonna loooose!

Finally, someone with sense on the right speaks clearly into the microphone. Cheers Governor Pawlenty! Although, when you’re as charismatic as a toad stool, reason and intelligence become your only wave-able banners; too bad 51% of republicans are committed to disagreeing with Tim, regardless of the information available to them. They don’t want to know the truth, they prefer just “feeling” like Obama’s a foreign entity, sort of like the gray matter between their ears.
And, I truly hope no one on the right listens to Tim; we need the birthers to remain imbecillic and paranoid so the independents know which side to run away from in 2012. Shhh, Tim. “Nothing to see here, move along.”
