Pawlenty to form presidential exploratory committee

By Jason Hancock | 03.21.11 | 9:55 am

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee this afternoon, the Republican said on a conference call Monday morning. The announcement will be aired live on Facebook at 2 p.m. CST.

The exploratory committee would clear the way for Pawlenty to raise money and hire campaign staff. It would require him to file formal paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

From DC news site Politico:

“We’re filing the paperwork today to form an exploratory committee to run for president of the United States,” he said on the call, to which POLITICO dialed in, he said, saying the committee would allow him to take the “initial steps” to run for president. …

“With all due respect for President Obama, I think he’s taken this country in the wrong direction,” Pawlenty told supporters. “This is the greatest nation this world has ever known and it’s in trouble and it needs a new direction and it ned new leadership.”

Pawlenty, who has visited Iowa numerous times in the last year as he openly flirted with a presidential run, picked up the endorsement of coveted Iowa political strategist Eric Woolson earlier this month.

He’s a crazy right winger, there’s gonna be a lot of those in our beloved state this year.

There aren’t too many “crazy right wingers” from the notoriously liberal state of Minnesota, hate to have to tell you this, but just because you don’t like Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann doesn’t make them “crazy right wingers.” Why don’t you call these people what they really are: Conservatives with a different viewpoint than you.

When someone, say a certain female congresswoman from Minnesota, thinks that the President was born in Kenya, or Indonesia, or whatever, and thinks that it’s ok for people to solve their differences with guns, they are crazy right wingers. And when someone, say a timid governor from Minnesota, pals around with people that think that the Nazis were gay and that gay people choose to be gay, they are also crazy right wingers. Fiscal conservatism I get. Social conservatism is a joke and manifests itself in the form of hillbillies, bible beaters, insecure idiots, and easily duped dopes.

Where’s the news that Michele Bachmann thinks that “it’s OK for people to solve their differences with guns?” What are you implying with this, that Michele Bachmann says to go out and shoot people? I’ve never heard her say that. And furthermore, what do the Nazis have to do with anything? You seem to be giving sympathy to the Nazis, a Nazi sympathizer, are you saying that none of the Nazis were gay? I don’t think gay rights advocacy groups would agree with you on that one. Your Nazi statements could be the most lubricious ever. I think you’re a left wing nut and an easily duped dope… Barack Obama likes ‘em that way.

Michelle Bachmann implied that people should be “armed and dangerous” over a health care bill. She is nuts. With the kind of crowd she plays to, people might take her seriously. The Nazis put homosexuals in concentration camps, you seem to be the dope. Read a history book. I am saying that both Bachmann and Pawlenty are anti gay and pal around with people, some of whom think that the nazis were gay themselves, trying to make the gay rights movement look bad. The nazis were rightwingers too. But methinks that you need to actually read a book. I am liberal but in no way am I wing nut. You clearly are. Learn how to spell also, lubricious? Like lubrication? Wth. I am not easily duped. You are though, we can all tell from your ability to never stray away from the provably false talking points coming out of the republican bs thinktanks.

Wendy, if you find online comments on American politics and Nazis lubricious, none of us ever wants to know. Ever. Seriously, there isn’t enough ethanol in Iowa to wipe that thought out of our minds.
