It was nearly down to the wire, but Sen. Tom Harkin finally announced the keynote speaker at this year’s Harkin Steak Fry fundraiser in Indianola:

Brian Schweitzer, the Montana rancher-turned-Governor, will be our special guest at the 31st Annual Harkin Steak Fry.  Governor Schweitzer, who electrified the Democratic National Convention last week in Denver, won election in 2004 and has led the Democratic resurgence in the mountain west. Governor Schweitzer will be making his first trip to Iowa since the 2008 Democratic National Convention and I am thrilled that he will be speaking at the Steak Fry.

The Steak Fry will take place a week from Sunday at the Indianola Balloon Field, which Harkin typically uses when he is able to attract big-name speakers and expects a large crowd.
