Staff at the Washington Independent has poured over documents from GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s time as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Mike Lillis found a document in which Palin, who claims she opposes earmarks, boasts — in her own handwritten note — that her town of 9,000 won over $2.5 million in state money and over $1 million in federal funds in one year.
