During a campaign stop at Capitol Hill in Des Moines, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden received the endorsement of three prominent Iowa legislators in his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the presidency.
Reps. Lisa Heddens and Mike Reasoner, both assistant majority leaders in the Iowa House, along with Rep. Dick Taylor announced their support for Biden because of his past Senate commitments to such initiatives as Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act, as well as his support for labor unions and his foreign policy experience.
Heddens, Reasoner and Taylor are all serving their third terms in the Iowa House. Heddens represents Ames, Reasoner represents Creston and Taylor represents Cedar Rapids. All three are Democrats.
The three lawmakers join State Sen. Joe Seng and Rep. Jim Lykam as Biden supporters at the Statehouse.
In 2004, Heddens and Taylor supported Sen. John Kerry’s caucus campaign. Reasoner was a supporter of Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman’s failed Democratic bid.
