GOP’s Reed says Harkin backs marriage of man and horse

By Douglas Burns | 08.25.08 | 7:36 am

Little-known GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, Christopher Reed of Marion — who has such a paucity of funding and proifle that he actually uses Google’s free blogspot service to post items — claims U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, (who has been married to one woman for around as long as Reed has been alive) wants to allow not only homosexual marriage but unions between man and horse.

Here is a Christopher Reed 2008 blog post from Saturday:

Held at the Alta Golf Course there were over 100 people in attendance. Of course, they were there to see their beloved Steve King, but I was given a chance to speak. This is about the 4th event I’ve been at this month with Mr. King so I had to change up my “stump pitch” and wing it about some different things. Instead of just reminding everyone about Tom Harkin’s complete lack of any energy plan and his lack-luster approach to immigration, I discussed some of his other short comings.

Marriage: Tom Harkin wants marriage to be between any 2, 3 or multiple people of any and all sexes. Heck, as far as he is concerned, you could marry your horse if it makes you happy. He wants to repeal DOMA which would eliminate any state from having its own right not to recognize another state’s marriage if they so chose.

I'm voting for the real Iowan…I'm voting for Christopher Reed!

Reed is running against Harkin? Harkin never wanted anyone to marry a horse. Reed is pulling this outta his back pocket. He exagerates and in doing so trivializes his message. The DOMA is unconstitutional. Mysogyny does not work, neither does DOMA. Remember when interracial marriages were outlawed in some states? Bigotry against Americans by any other name is bigotry. You can decide never to marry another person, but in this country we can marry whomever we love. Stop the Gestapo tactics, making straw dogs to shoot them down. You are working up to breaking into people's bedrooms to see if they use contraception. What will you call that unconstitutional law? PSNN?The Pope says no-no?
Tom is not only are Real Iowan, just like Reed, he is a good public servant in a time when greed and avarice rule the nation.
It occurs to me that fundamentalists want to control everyone else's lives. On the other hand, their privacy is more important than anyone else's. After all, they deserve greater privacy because they love god. No one loves her like they do. Fundamentalists believe that killing in utero life is wrong, but preventing care of infants is an economic issue, not a moral one. Reread the Sermon on the Mount and live that teaching before you lecture Tom Harkin on his public service.

It appears the western Iowa Left is beginning to show its anti-Catholic bigotry.

    Love the Gestapo reference, too.

I see the western Iowa Left is revealing its anti-Catholic bigotry.

    Love the Gestapo reference, too.

What is it with Republicans and bestiality? Rick Santorum (R-formerly PA Senator) brought us “man on dog sex.” Now it's marrying horses.

It shows that an obsession with other people's personal lives is not healthy.

Enough with the bestiality arguments already. Animals can't enter into contracts. I've heard this silliness from Republicans for years, and it's ridiculous.
