While Carter Lake, near the Omaha airport, is on the western side of the Missouri River, it is in Iowa and the site of a planned casino being developed by Nebraska’s Ponca tribe. The Iowa Attorney General’s office has filed suit to stop the development, the Associated Press reports:

The attorney general is asking a federal judge to overturn a decision by the National Indian Gaming Commission approving a gaming ordinance submitted by the Ponca Tribe.

The commission issued its decision on Dec. 31, allowing the tribe to move ahead with plans to build a casino at Carter Lake, which is part of Iowa but is on the western side of the Missouri River.
