Chris Christie heading to Iowa, has no interest in 2012

Chris Christie

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will visit Iowa in the coming weeks to campaign for GOP gubernatorial hopeful Terry Branstad, D.C. news site Politico reports. But despite the presidential chatter that a trip like this to the Hawkeye State always stirs, Christie insists he has absolutely no interest in seeking his party’s presidential nomination in 2012.

Christie’s political stock began to rise when he knocked off New Jersey’s incumbent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine in November 2009, and as Politico reports, he is now one of the Republican Party’s “most-sought after stars.”

From Politico:

Yet the anti-abortion, Bruce Springsteen-loving father of four who has spoken openly of his need to make money after his gubernatorial term is hard to pigeonhole politically.

He tends to view things through the lens of a prosecutor, telling interviewers, for instance, that he wanted to take time to review the health care reform package passed in Washington before commenting on it so he fully saw the implications for his state.

And he has not joined in some of the conservative discussions about immigration policy, most recently saying he didn’t want to join in the political ping-pong over the mosque near ground zero in nearby Lower Manhattan. He also pointedly urged people not to paint all of Islam with the brush of terrorism, a contrast to the tone employed by 2012 presidential prospects including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.

In an interview with radio host Don Imus, Christie denied all interest in a 2012 bid.
No, no. Come on. Look at me. Me for President? Come on, seriously. No way. No way.

I mean, I know I’ve heard all these weasel words that other people use ‘Well, I have no plans right now’, ‘I don’t think that would be something I would like to do’.

I’m looking at you: No, ain’t happening. Not doing it.

I live in New Jersey and I am a registered Republican. Unfortunately, one the truth gets out candidates in other states will be running from Christie.

He has had a hate relationship with the teachers of NJ ever since his campaign started. More alarming is that his decisions resulted in a loss of $ 400 million in federal school aid. He tried to blame Bret Schundler, the NJ Education Secretary but the truth reveals that it was Christie's foolishness that caused us $ 400 million.

Our employment rate is terrible and Christie has no idea of how to bring more jobs to NJ. He is working to kill a tunnel project that would bring in millions of dollars and provide employment for more than 60,000 people.

It sickening what this guy is doing. The only reason he won the primaries was that he was connected to national party operatives. We had another much more intelligent Republican candidate & even Corzine would have been a much better choice.

It's nothing personal but Christie has no idea what he is doing and its impact. When it comes to business he just has no clue.
