U.S. Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin could face a legal battle over a case which was settled in 2007. Microsoft Litigation Consortium alleges it is owed part of the $75 million in attorney fees from the settlement Conlin negotiated with Microsoft Corp.

The gubernatorial campaign could resound in state legislative races throughout the state. Governing Magazine says Gov. Chet Culver’s “travails have boosted GOP hopes of winning back one or both of the state’s legislative chambers.” However, it’s unlikely Republicans have a shot at overcoming a 32-18 Democratic advantage in the state Senate.

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will visit Iowa again next week. The trip is part of American Solutions — Gingrich’s initiative to prep GOP candidates for campaigning.

Rasmussen Reports says there are 10 U.S. Senate seats that could go either way this November, likely chipping away some of the Democrats’ lead. Iowa, Rasmussen says, is a safe win for Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley.

Republican lieutenant governor candidate Kim Reynolds appears to be actively reaching out to Republican leaders who supported Bob Vander Plaats in the GOP primary. Vander Plaats has not yet endorsed Reynolds and candidate Terry Branstad.

More than a quarter of journalists surveyed say their work they’re working longer hours but still having less time to research each story.

In response to efforts to regulate the financial sector, Wall Street contributors are cutting off donations to politicians’ campaigns.
