The Iowa Democratic Party has launched a Web site hammering Republican presidential nominee John McCain on issues like ethanol subsidies and the Farm Bill.
The site, called McCain vs. Iowa, will be “strictly issues-focused and will be updated regularly with Iowa specific information to be used by Iowans as they make their decision come November,” according to a press release announcing the launch.
Today’s rollout focuses on Sen. McCain’s opposition to ethanol subsidies and the Farm Bill. Future issues to be discussed include renewable energy, health care and taxes.
Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Scott Brennan said the site will be used to point out ways in which McCain’s beliefs don’t align with Iowa’s interests.
The record is clear: when given the opportunity, Senator McCain has actively fought legislation critical to the economic growth of the State of Iowa. He has sided with oil companies over Iowa biofuels, and called the Farm Bill, which provides an important safety net to Iowa farmers, “corporate welfare.” Iowans deserve to know that Senator Obama has supported issues important to Iowa his entire career, and, simply put, Senator McCain has not.
Accompanying the launch of the site is a new Web ad that shows several clips of McCain saying “We don’t need ethanol subsidies†and “If I were the President of the United States, I would veto that farm bill in a New York minute.â€
