Gov. Chet Culver’s re-election is vital to the Obama administration, Vice President Joe Biden said in Cedar Rapids Tuesday.
Biden, speaking in Greene Square Park to an audience of about 400, praised Culver for leadership in alternative energy, job creation, and flood recovery. The vice president’s appearance was part of Culver’s 2010 reelection tour.
“We needed people not just to rebuild what had been broken but to build anew and to make sure we had a different economy in the 21st century. Folks, that’s why I’m here today,” Biden said.
Biden also said the president’s recent trips to Iowa — one earlier this month to a handful of towns in state’s Southeast corner and another to Iowa City earlier this year — were part of President Barack Obama’s plan to rally support for Democrats in the state.
The vice president was joined by Culver and Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, who both touted the administration’s record since 2007, citing expansion of preschool education, infrastructure projects, and investments in alternative energy.
