Conlin raises nearly $900,000 for senate campaign in first quarter

By Jason Hancock | 04.15.10 | 9:30 am

Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Roxanne Conlin announced Thursday morning that her campaign raised $879,615 in the first three months of 2010.

The total includes $250,000 Conlin contributed to her own campaign, bringing her total cash on hand to a little more than $1 million.

The campaign notes that 81 percent of its donors are from Iowa and 78 percent of contributions are $100 or less. Conlin also said none of the money came from “Washington lobbyists or PACs.”

Conlin is running in the three-way Democratic primary for the chance to take on Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley. The five-term incumbent has yet to file his first quarter disclosure with the Federal Elections Commission, but as of Dec. 31, 2009, he had more than $5 million cash on hand.

The deadline for campaigns to file their fundraising reports with the FEC is midnight.
