King controlling GOP debate on slavery apology

Historically such a resolution has significant merit for Iowa. Iowa's Senate delegation voted in favor of the Fugitive Slave Law in 1850. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugitive_Slave_Law... ) Such a resolution supported by our entire congressional delegation would be a symbolic gesture that Iowa no longer reflects the views it once held, and would go a long way to allowing things like the fact that we have had integrated education since the 1870s in Iowa be more meritorious in our historic record.


The worst part is, I think that everyone has an idea of the historical significance of the Civil War, but some how King thinks that must be recognized yet again while apologizing for the civil war and a century of institutionalized racism.

I can't wait for November, when I get to vote for Rob Hubler and help him retire Iowa's worst congressman.
