An imminent deal on health care?

Congress Daily’s Anna Edney reports that Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, predicted Thursday that the Democrats will have a merged bill to the Congressional Budget Office in a “couple days.”

That’s a much different message than the one coming from House leaders yesterday, when it looked like the negotiations would be pushed into February. Looks like that eight-hour marathon meeting at the White House Wednesday might have borne some fruit.

    Americans are likely very eager to see what the result of the closed-door meetings will mean to them and are also likely very suspicious. The Democrats will likely need much publicity to explain the benefits of the bill and to allay fears of the changes

    A much wiser idea is to take a long hard look at the entire health insurance industry and then work to remedy the situation by taking out the waste and creating new, innovative ideas that would be a benefit for all.
