“What is important now is for our party to come together behind our Presidential nominee, Senate nominee, our Congressional nominees and our local candidates,” said the message, without naming Christopher Reed, who narrowly defeated Eichhorn.“The Republican base is united against Tom Harkin’s big government record,” said the Reed campaign in response, “and now we must spread the message to all corners of Iowa.”
Friday was the deadline for requesting recounts, Final canvass results Tuesday showed Reed narrowly above the 35 percent requirement for nomination.
