Iowa Independent Fellow Dien Judge was appointed to the Monroe County Board of Supervisors Thursday, filling the seat of former Democratic supervisor Paul Koffman, who died in April.Judge, who has covered agriculture and rural life for Iowa Independent for over a year, is no stranger to politics. His mother, Patty Judge, was elected as Iowa’s first female Secretary of Agriculture in 1998. She is currently Lieutenant Governor. His father, John Judge, is a former State Senator.
Judge will serve on the Board until mid-November, when the results of Monroe County’s election for a new Supervisor will be officially canvassed. At which point a newly-elected Supervisor will be sworn in. Judge’s name will not appear on the ballot as a candidate.
