Huckabee says he probably won’t run in 2012

By Jason Hancock | 11.30.09 | 11:20 am

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told Fox News Sunday that another presidential run in 2012 is “less than likely.”

Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa Caucuses and remains popular among Hawkeye State Republicans, said he would rather continue doing his Fox News program as opposed to re-entering the political world.

From Politico:

“The reason I wouldn’t is that this Fox gig I’ve got is really wonderful, ” he said, talking about whether or not he would get in the race given that he is a GOP front runner according to most recent polls.  “Jumping into the pool, you gottta make sure there is some water in it.”

Huckabee’s three trips to Iowa since the 2008 presidential election have stoked speculation that he is interested in another run. Two were to promote books and a third was to speak at the Iowa Association of Business and Industry’s annual convention before holding a fundraiser for GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats. Huckabee endorsed Vander Plaats earlier this year.
