The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Wednesday that three more adult Iowans have died as a result of the H1N1 influenza virus.

The three adults were from Carroll, Des Moines and Webster counties, and all had additional risk factors that increased the chance of complications from the virus.

Since Sept. 1, the state has reported 27 confirmed H1N1 deaths and more than 650 H1N1-related hospitalizations. The state’s first H1N1-related death was an individual from eastern Iowa on August 4, 2009 and is not included in the fall/winter total.
