I expected more! I expected more out of Des Moines. Johnston is a relatively larger community than most in Iowa. It makes me wonder what kids who are gay have to go through in more rural Iowa. My heart goes out to them. Des Moines is supposed to be more “cultured” and “up and coming”. In my world that means more than developing the entertainment district and building more condos. It should revolutionize the way we think. There are too few of us who can look beyond the small farm fence and see that everyone has their differences and more importantly that differences are GOOD. It's what makes us unique! Wake up Iowa! We need to start teaching our children to embrace differences!
