WASHINGTON – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will open four Iowa locations this Saturday, March 29 to help Iowans who are eligible for an economic stimulus check but normally don’t file an income tax return. Many retirees, veterans and low-income workers fall into this group.
IRS employees will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help individuals filing a return solely to receive their stimulus payment.
“I encourage all Iowans who do not normally file income tax returns to stop by their closest IRS office this Saturday to find out whether they are eligible for an economic stimulus payment,” Harkin said. “Those who are eligible simply need to complete a short form and they will receive their stimulus check.”
