Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Stewart Iverson, this week, announced the appointment of two campaign veterans to key posts within the party.
Joining the RPI are Caleb Hunter, who will run the day-to-day operations of the party as executive director, and Tim Albrecht, who will serve as communications director.
Hunter replaces former executive director Chuck Laudner, who was fired after Iverson took over as chairman of the party last month, replacing longtime chair Ray Hoffmann of Sioux City. Also dismissed at that time was Republican Political Director Craig Robinson.
Hunter, notably, ran Bill Northey’s successful bid for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture in 2006. He served as political director for the state party in 2005-2006 and most recently worked at the Lincoln Strategies Group, a public relations firm based in West Des Moines.
Hunter is a native of Jesup and a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa.
Albrecht, 30, most recently served as Iowa press secretary and national media coordinator for Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. From 2002-2006, he was communications director for Iowa House Speaker Christopher Rants, R-Sioux City. Previous campaign experience includes Steve Sukup’s run for governor in 2002, and the presidential campaign of Steve Forbes in 1999-2000.
Albrecht, of West Des Moines, is originally from Ida Grove.
