Videos: Hillary Clinton and Her Detractors

By Adam Burke | 12.19.07 | 12:07 am

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has taken some criticism for planting questions at her events recently. One question that definitely wasn’t planted was asked on Monday night in Coralville at an event held in the Antique Car Museum of Iowa.

The questioner, David Dickey, said that although he liked Clinton and would vote for her in the general election if she was the Democratic candidate, many of his friends were not Clinton fans. He asked her, “How can you convince people that you’re the right woman for the job?”

Here is the exchange:

A short video interview with Dickey can be found below the fold.Dickey declined to take a caucus pledge card when approached by a Clinton volunteer.  He told the Clinton worker that he wasn’t sure yet, but then he told the Iowa Independent that he is leaning towards caucusing for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

In this video David Dickey talks about Clinton, her opposition, and her response to his pointed question:

Iowa Independent reporter John Deeth has more from the event.

Out-of-state students Next time either or you see her, please ask her directly the question: “should out-of-state students caucus?”  YES or NO? We have been hearing muddy and conflicting answers from her campaign, even from the DMR editor on C-span. No dodging. YES or NO from her, the direct source, to clear this matter up.

Bill Clinton said it best… ..it's a question of conscience.

If you're a student from Champaign or Minneapolis or Omaha or wherever…if you consider yourself an Iowan, at least temporarily, then by all means caucus. If you consider yourself as being from Chicago or Nebraska or someplace else, then please respect our system and caucus there.

I think you and a lot of other people want to make this more than it is, when really it's simple.
