If a county recorder feels that they cannot fully complete their oath of office then they should resign. Will any of them actually do it? Doubt it. I would be interested in knowing if any of them actually plan to and would like to.

Aboslutely agree 100%. Part of me is disgusted that he could be so ignorant and hurtful towards people in our great state. The other part of me is disgusted that he could be so willing to turn his back on the clear and obvious rules just because he thinks it suits him. It's the same thing that Bob Vander Platts is doing. I dont even understand how the 3 words from our Declaration of Independence are even a partisan issue. What part of Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness escapes people? and why must they use the Lord's name in vain to attempt to persecute people?

Yep…exactly. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States (and of NY and MN in my National Guard days). That oath means quite a bit to me, so much so that I was willing to risk my life for what it stands for. When some schmuch like Bartz pulls that crap, I would just like to see him locked up for inciting insurrection…this goes far beyond free speech…this is treason.

Yes… the constitution is more appropriate, since it is the highest law in the land. And it restricts what our laws can and cannot do. What Bartz is advocating violates this law – which means he isn't upholding the oath he took.

and putting your hand on the bible is optional. I've always believed that in such circumstances, putting your hand on the fundamental document ( in this case, the Constitution) is more appropriate.

The constitution is the law, regardless of what your deep-seated religious opinion is. The supreme court reminded us of this. When you become an elected official, you put your hand on the Bible and swear to uphold our constitution… you dont put your hand on the constitution and swear to uphold your view of the Bible!
