If the citizens of the state of Iowa have a right to vote on this issue without the legislature engaging in "pure obstruction" then why do we have a legislature? Why does our constitution require the legislature to vote new amendments up or down before they go to the voters?

It's called REPRESENTATIVE democracy. A majority of our elected leaders should agree with a potential amendment before it is sent before the voters.

Mike Gronstal knows his caucus in the Iowa Senate and he knows the votes aren't there for an amendment banning same-sex marriage, so why buy into the political circus that the Republicans want to create? Stick to your principles Mike!

Commemorative Buttons Available...

I have a supply of buttons commemorating the (Unanimous! That *SO* Rocks!) Iowa Supreme Court ruling.

I donated a bunch of these to the Linn County Stonewall Democrats on Friday at the celebration at Hamburger Mary's...and was quite honored to present a couple to the Varnum's.

See http://www.thejoezone.info/buttons for more info
