And until that wonderful day comes when it isn't just legal scholars, but also everyone else, that realizes equality is an important part of Iowa's tradition and values, we'll be continue strong with the White Knots of Central Iowa initiative. It's been off to a quick success - a big enough success that we are having trouble keeping up!

And I'm still trying to figure out what this “gay marriage” is. The Supreme Court didn't rule that Iowa needed to make a second civil institution of marriage, they ruled that the current one had to be equal…

Constitutional amendments can only appear on the ballot in a regular statewide election, so November of 2012 is the earliest Iowans could vote on this (not that there is even a remote chance that the Legislature will allow this mean-spirited idea to advance).

Commemorative Buttons Available...

I have a supply of buttons commemorating the (Unanimous! That *SO* Rocks!) Iowa Supreme Court ruling.

I donated a bunch of these to the Linn County Stonewall Democrats on Friday at the celebration at Hamburger Mary's...and was quite honored to present a couple to the Varnum's.
