Statehouse purse snatcher attended DNC with the Vice President

By admin | 03.19.09 | 4:32 pm

A man was arrested at the capitol today after a lobbyist allegedly caught him in the act of stealing a woman’s wallet.  The Des Moines Register reports that the man, Marshall Clemons, 38, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with two counts of fifth-degree theft.

The man was apparently at the capitol as part of a group advocating on behalf of health care reform, so an Iowa Independent reader did some googling and sent along the results.  It appears Clemons, a member of the Service Employees International Union and a school janitor in Cedar Rapids, attended the Democratic National Convention with then-Sen. Joe Biden.

Biden also “walked a day in the shoes” of Clemons back when he was running for President himself in the Iowa Caucuses.  Below, I’ve posted video.

Hmmmm….I wonder if the “Iowa Independent reader” may be none other than the new Dem smear site on the block, “The Iowa Republican,” which e-mailed me this “breaking news” yesterday?

This forced connection between Biden and Clemons illustrates the flawed logic in the following syllogism:

Marshall Clemons was caught picking pockets at Des Moines capitol.
VP Joe Biden walked in Clemons’ shoes for a day.
    Biden is a pickpocket.

This feeble attempt to smear the Dems is what catapulted the GOP into the minority. Don’t the Republicans in Iowa realize these smear tactics have become passé?

The bigger irony here is that Clemons was at the capitol lobbying Big Health “Care,” which, aided and abetted by our elected leaders, have been pick pocketing Iowans for years. But have they been brought up on criminal charges yet?

Now there’s a smear y’all can run with if this is the precedent you want to set.

    Sincerely,
    An Iowa Independent Reader

You know what is a bigger irony than a man pick-pocketting Big Health “Care” that has been pick-pocketting Iowans for years?

A man pick-pocketting people while lobbying on the capital. Oh, and then apparently being the same guy who Joe Biden profiled in a movie.

It would have been even funnier (yes it could get funnier!) if those Republicans who broke the story tried to splice in footage of Clemons teaching Joe how to pick-pocket. And feeble!

I received that same email from the Iowa Republican and didn't come to the conclusion that Vice President Biden is a pickpocket.

For me, it was just another glaring example of the sleezy politics and seedy characters that make up the Democratic Party and their eternal lap dogs, the unions.
