Ron Paul’s New Iowa Chair Wins Christian Alliance Award

By T.M. Lindsey | 10.06.07 | 7:26 am

On the heels of being named Iowa Chairman for Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul’s campaign, Dr. Drew Ivers was awarded the “Friends of the Family Award” by the Iowa Christian Alliance. Ivers received the award at the ICA’s fall banquet Sept. 29, just days after taking over the Paul’s Iowa reins. Ivers was introduced to the audience by ICA President Steve Scheffler, who he had previously served with Ivers on the Iowa Republican Party’s Central Committee. Scheffler and Ivers also shared a connection with the ICA: Ivers chaired the state-wide Pat Robertson organization in 1998, which led to the creation of the initial 1989 Christian Coalition of Iowa (now the ICA).

Given the Paul campaign’s run-in with the ICA over its decision not to invite him to its GOP presidential forum in June – an event cosponsored by the Iowans for Tax Reform — the irony of Paul’s new Iowa chair winning the “Friends of the Family Award” will not be lost on Paul’s fervent supporters. The apparent snub only served to inspire the Ron Paul Revolutionaries as they descended upon Des Moines in droves to attend a counter-rally next door, which garnered more attendees than the forum itself. Moreover, a recording of the event was posted on the internet and has been used to bolster the movement’s recruitment efforts.

When asked in a telephone interview about the ICA’s decision not to invite Ron Paul to the forum, Ivers told the Iowa Independent that he had met with Scheffler and had worked things out. “Steve told me there were some differences within the two coalitions sponsoring the event,” Ivers said. “Steve told me there was a communication breakdown that led to Ron Paul not being invited to the event. He also assured me that these issues have been worked, and I take him for his word on this matter.”“As many evangelicals sort out their concerns about Israel and the Middle East, I want to advance Congressman Paul’s long-held opposition to our troublesome foreign aid policy, which is contrary to our forefathers admonitions to avoid foreign entanglements,” Ivers said after the event.  “Such aide in the Middle East frequently has negative consequences. And as Dr. Paul reiterates, we need justice for 911, not an endless War in Iraq which most Americans now oppose.  As a combat veteran who has experienced this all before, I know Ron Paul is right. It is time to bring the troops home.”

A Christian viewpoint on spreading democracy When I read the New Testament, I am always impressed by Christ’s simple words “Come Follow Me.”  If we want to spread democracy throughout the world, it is better done by example than by force.  Ron Paul’s message of peace and prosperity resonates with all good people, Christian or otherwise.

I find it disgusting that politicians would play on good Christian values such as the anti-abortion issue, and then do nothing about it when they get into power.  Congressman Paul has indicated that a simple majority of the House and Senate could vote to remove the abortion issue from federal jurisdiction, and a signature of the President would make it done.  States would then have authority to write their own laws concerning abortion.  Why didn’t the Republicans do this when they controlled both houses and the white house?  Maybe they don’t want to resolve this issue because it continues to get people out to the polls for them and lets them hide all of their other shortcomings.

I’m very glad that the ICA and Ron Paul’s supporters have worked out their difference.  We need this man to return our country to its constitutional values.

Christians and Israel As a Christian, I can understand why Christians support Israel. Unfortunately, some Christian leaders have added support of Israel to their gospel. In doing so, they have endeared themselves to the Bush administration and other one-worlders who have little regard for the Constitution, let alone for how they spend our hard-earned taxes to expand their foreign adventures.

The same leaders have also turned their new-fangled gospels into a very lucrative cottage industry that has enriched them immensely. Ron Paul is so different from these charlatans who love the praises of men. He does not adapt his message to suit his audience. Jesus died for the Jews and the Palestinians; for the Chinese and Arabs.

Some Christians won’t vote for Ron Paul because his message of “bring the troops home,” supposedly undermines the security of Israel. Israel is quite capable of taking care of its own security needs. Besides, and this is a very important point, these foreign intrusions are bankrupting the country. These fat cat pastors have no idea how the ordinary man and women struggle to make ends meet. Ron Paul does and he will bring our troops home and cut the size of government down to where it was before Bush mis-administration took over, and the concomitant saving will allow him to abolish the IRS.

Why would we not all vote for Ron Paul? The fact is: the whole world is going after him. It is only the political elite and the Pharisaical evangelicals who are plotting his demise.

strengthen Israel by reducing its dependence Dr. Paul also commented in Tennessee this weekend that the state of Israel would be strengthened if we stopped treating it like a dependent.  They are fully capable of dealing with their own security issues without the US handcuffing them.

    My thoughts:
Also, we handled the Soviet Union for 45 years, we can deal with Iran. Plus Israel’s own nukes are an effective deterrent for Iran.  Note that Israel bombed Iraq in early 80′s to deal with the real nuke threat in the region.  Israel can step forward to so again.

DAWN OF THE AMERICAN REFORMATION DAWN OF THE AMERICAN REFORMATION, AND END OF THE ERA OF THE UGLY AMERICAN
This Ron Paul constitutional rebellion is an escalation and re-orientation of the American Cultural War, by the American People, against the rising governmental tyranny by Neoconservative Republicans and Leftist Democrats. It is sweeping across America like a wildfire – ignited by the illegal and unnecessary invasion of Iraq.
It raises many crucial questions; such as, where does the American Constitution give my government the right to sacrifice precious American wealth and blood, in interests of domestic and foreign lobbies?
And, where does the American Constitution give my government the right to allow my nation to be invaded and permanently occupied by illegal aliens?
And, where does the American Constitution give my government the right to support the sacrificial killing of children, by their own mothers?
And, where does the American Constitution give my government the right to discriminate against traditional religious practices in public schools, universities, marriage institutions, armed forces, and governmental offices?
This creeping governmental tyranny, driven by perverse special interests, has now been going on for so many decades, like the illegal invasion, that the impending American Reformation is regarded with fear and loathing, by those who are to lose their illicit gains.
Like Gandhi, Ron Paul is drawing his intrepid volunteers from the full spectrum of humanity; and World is cheering him on to victory.

RON PAUL AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH RON PAUL AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Ron Paul is clearly regarded with fear and loathing by the Leftist Democrats and the Neo-Con Reps, and much of media; and he has proven himself to be the leading debater.
If his sacred right to Freedom of Speech, guaranteed by the American Constitution, is somehow denied him; there will certainly be a severe backlash everywhere in America. After the rude and biased behavior of Fox News at the last debate, this ridiculously opinionated and pretentious group suffered such a severe firestorm of criticism by the American People, that it will never recover its former reputation.
Ron Paul has moved up so exceptionally fast in the polls, from 2% to 6%, that it has put his opponents into a state of panic. After this next debate they will certainly suffer further humiliation.

Dr. Paul is the Conservative answer and the Christian Answer This is inspiring.  I hope all those who were misinformed

    will now be informed properly.

Dr. Paul believes in the just war theory, something the

    Christians should embrace.

Spread the word on this.  The Christians don't need a third

    party, they need Dr. Paul.
