A bill allocating $56 million from the state’s emergency fund to go to communities and individuals affected by last summer’s natural disasters will be signed Monday by Gov. Chet Cuvler.
The bill, which recieved unanimous approval in both chambers of the legislature, includes $10 million in grants for individual needs; $24 million for housing assistance; and $22 million in community disaster grants.
During the Senate debate, Republican lawmakers introduced nine amendments due to concerns about accountability within the bill’s voucher system. All nine amendments were rejected.
Culver will sign the bill at 11:30 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda.
