Matthew Elliott’s trial for the alleged murder of a seven-month-old girl began yesterday. Elliott is a former president of both the Drake University student body and the Iowa College Republicans. In 2006, Elliott decided to run for the legislature himself and moved back to his hometown, but his candidacy was derailed by child pornography found on his Republican Party-issued work computer back in Des Moines.
