President George W. Bush and President-elect Barack Obama have joined forces to request that Congress release the second half of the $700 billion bailout package, but Sen. Chuck Grassley, who supported the bailout initially, has signaled that he will oppose the request.  Grassley is the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee.
